Watchdog Oil Dryers

Watchdog Oil Dryers are a passive-drying system designed for bearing housings and other applications where moisture condensation must be minimized. Relative humidity is substantially reduced in most applications. The compact design and standard thread sizes are designed to simplify installation. Standby equipment can be protected from internal moisture damage when the Watchdog Oil Dryer is installed.

Visual Indication

When maximum adsorption is reached the silica gel turns from orange to dark green, indicating replacement is needed. The silica gel used is chemically inert, non-corrosive, and does not contain cobalt chloride, a heavy metal. The color changing dye used is environmentally safe and meets all health and safety requirements.

Protecting Your Equipment

I recently looked at the analyst ratings of the tens of thousands of samples processed through our lab in 2020. I took all the samples related to bearings, gears, and hydraulic systems and summarized the analyst’s rating based on the test results. One thing is clear. Reliability and maintenance personnel continue to struggle with maintaining the quality of their lubricant. 35% of samples claim a Serious/Critical status, 27% proceed with caution, and only 38% are considered normal.
