Rate of the Watchdog® Oil Dryer
The Trico Watchdog Oil Dryer is a
passive drying system designed for bearing housings
and other applications where moisture levels must
be minimized. Relative humidity is substantially
reduced in most applications.
Below is a reference chart of the
saturation rate of the Watchdog Oil Dryer to use
as a guide when determining how long it will continue
to pick up moisture.
The reference rate chart below is
based on specific conditions including the following:
- There is 85 grams of desiccant
in the Watchdog Oil Dryer.
- The temperature is 77 degrees
Fahrenheit.
- The size of the housing being
monitored is 177 cubic in. (mid-range centrifugal
pump housing).
- At 100% relative humidity
the 85 grams of desiccant will hold 5.44 grams
of water.
Please note the following:
The saturation rate of the Watchdog Oil Dryer will
vary per application by whether the application
is vented or non-vented. The chart below is based
on a non vented, or closed, system with the % relative
humidity remaining constant. If the application
is vented, the saturation rate will vary depending
on the air exchange with the outside atmosphere.
